The CFA Society of Philadelphia will be sponsoring its 6th Annual Professional Development Day on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The Society is excited to present to you another year of valuable and topical discussions geared towards professionals looking to further expand their financial industry expertise.
Tony Crescenzi, Senior Strategist and Portfolio Manager with PIMCO, will be this year’s Keynote speaker. Mr. Crescenzi is very well known in the industry for his financial insights, market strategy and economic commentary. Topics of discussion will include fiscal and monetary policy, price stability and the health of the economy. Mr. Crescenzi will also provide his thoughts and opinions on the future direction of the economy and financial markets.
This year’s event will include a panel discussion on one of the most challenging aspects of today’s current economic condition, employment. Gain insight on local employment conditions and how human resource departments are managing company personnel as unemployment continues to trend higher. Panel participants include Jerry Crompton of SEI Investments and Andrea Ladany of Wilmington Trust Company and Mercedes Locilento of Susquehanna International Group.
Diane Garnick, Investment Strategist from Invesco LTD, will also be joining us this year discussing the importance of mentors. Achieving your long life long dreams and ambitions may be facilitated by surrounding yourself with the proper support group. Find out how to select a mentor and what one can expect from a mentor during this session.
Scott Budge, Managing Director from RayLign Advisory LLC, and Steve Utkus, Principal from The Vanguard Group, will participate on the behavioral finance panel that will speak to the psychology of investments. Investor confidence remains subdued after a dismal year of investment portfolio performance. Portfolios may be altered as investors continue to digest past security performance and realign their investment objectives with future cash necessities.
