December, 2006

Dear Members,

The holiday season is often a busy time and it is certainly no different for your Society.  Kicking off our December programs will be the CFA Candidate Open House where current and prospective CFA candidates can learn more about the program directly from practitioners and Society board members.  This will be a great opportunity for candidates to get answers to many questions dealing with the exam and its preparation.

In an effort to provide members with an opportunity for networking mixed with holiday cheer, we are hosting a Holiday Celebration at our new venue, the Top of the Tower on December 7th.  We hope to see many of you there!

Our December Center City luncheon features James Ware of the Focus Consulting Group.  A much sought after consultant, Jim will be discussing the elements that contribute to a winning culture in today’s investment firm.  Those of you with management and hiring responsibilities should find this luncheon extremely valuable.

Recently, the Society has started to step up efforts to reach out to our future membership.  In an effort spearheaded by our board member, Jim Rowley, we have been busy making area graduate school programs aware of the CFA Scholarship program and our many fine continuing education programs.  We hope increasing graduate school awareness today of the advantages of the CFA program will help enrich the membership of the Society and their firms in the years to come.

Preparations have already been made for our two large January events: The Economic and Investment Outlook with John Neff and The Annual Forecast Dinner.  Please visit our website: www.cfaphil.org to secure your places for these star-studded events as they will rapidly creep up on us.

From all of us at the CFA Society of Philadelphia, we wish you a happy and heartwarming holiday season.

Sincerely,

Paul Emata, CFA, CFP

President
